A Protection From Abuse Order (PFA) is a court order, signed by a Judge. Typically, a PFA will remove the abuser from the residence of the parties, and prohibit the abuser from contacting the other party. Violation of the Protection From Abuse Order can result in a criminal contempt proceeding and possible incarceration.
