Serious Personal Injury

When you’ve suffered a serious injury – or if someone you love has died – due to someone else’s recklessness or carelessness, we understand that your life was forever changed in an instant.

You may be unable to return to work or to participate in activities that once brought joy and meaning into your life.  You may be suffering not only from physical pain, but also from emotional distress, anxiousness, fear, and depression.  Lost income and soaring medical expenses may be threatening the financial security of you and your loved ones.

Victims and their families can be easily overwhelmed by the physical, emotional and financial challenges they are forced to face following a serious injury of death.  We understand.  Our attorneys listen to our clients and are committed to understanding the details of each client’s case sot that we can provide our clients guidance and do our best to fight to maximize their potential recovery.

YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Do I have a personal injury claim?  You may have a personal injury claim if you or a loved one suffered harm and other losses due to the recklessness or carelessness of another.  A consultation with an experienced personal injury attorney can help you decide if you have a case and, if you do, the steps which are needed to protect your legal rights.  Our attorneys will carefully investigate the facts and circumstances of your case, so that we know exactly what happened and what you and your family need to do to move forward with your life.

How much is my personal injury claim worth? Many factors affect what what a reasonable recovery amount may be, such as, for example, the nature of your injury, the permanency of your injury, the impact the injury has on your life, whether you lost wages due to missed work, whether you have unreimbursed medical expenses, and whether you endured emotional distress as a result of your injury.  Other factors to be considered are how believable and likeable you and your witnesses are, where the harmful conduct occurred, and in which court the lawsuit must be filed.  Although experienced personal injury attorneys are capable of estimating what a claim is worth, honest attorneys must tell you that this judgment can rarely be made early on in the case and that there is never any guarantee of any recovery.

How long can I wait to file a personal injury claim? In Pennsylvania, the statute of limitations for a personal injury lawsuit – the deadline by which you must file your lawsuit in court – expires only two years from the date you were injured or – in certain cases involving hidden injury cause – from the date you discover, or reasonably should have discovered, that you have been injured and that your injury has been caused by another person’s conduct.  Of the victim is under the age of 18, the time to file may be longer.  Missing a filing deadline can be a complete and permanent bar to your claim, so you should seek the advice of an experienced personal injury attorney as soon as you think you may have a possible claim.

What is pain and suffering? A victim can suffer both physical pain and suffering and emotional pain and suffering.  Physical pain and suffering refers to a victim’s actual physical injuries and the physical pain and suffering they experience – and will continue to experience in the future – as a result of those injuries.  Emotional pain and suffering refers to any mental anguish, emotional distress, loss of enjoyment of life, fear, anger, humiliation, anxiousness, and shock that a victim experiences as a result of the wrongful conduct of another or from the physical pain caused by the incident.
