The Team Cameron Toy Drive is run by the Cameron McCarthy Foundation, named in honor of my daughter, who, in May of 2015 – just before her 7th birthday – was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma – a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer. Cameron endured a year of difficult treatment (17 rounds of in-patient chemotherapy and 31 proton radiation treatments) and is now 4 ½ years cancer free.
We spent a lot of time in the hospital during treatment, and I cannot emphasize enough just how much a new toy or game means to a child stuck inside a hospital, sometimes for days or weeks at a time. Now with the pandemic and limitations on visitors, children need these toys even more to distract them from what is going on and to brighten their day.
As with all things 2020, our toy drive will be a little different this year, but we still want to help bring smiles to the faces of sick kids! For the past few years, our toy drive has been so successful that we have completely filled a U-Haul truck to the brim with toys. This year due to the pandemic, the hospital is not accepting toy donations but instead is accepting monetary donations so that its Child Life team can purchase the necessary toys. While this is not nearly as fun as pulling up to the hospital with a U-Haul full of toys, we can still have the same impact on the kids.

We will add all donations to the Virtual Toy Drive total and provide a 501(c)3 tax-compliant donation receipt.
Although this 2020 toy drive will be different from years past, please help us make it just as successful for the wonderful children at Nemours/A.I. Dupont Hospital for Children.
