The Team Cameron Toy Drive is run by the Cameron McCarthy Foundation, named in honor of my daughter who, in May of 2015 – just before her 7th birthday – was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma – a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer. Cameron endured a year of difficult treatment (17 rounds of in-patient chemotherapy and 31 proton radiation treatments) and is now 5 ½ years cancer free.
We spent a lot of time in the hospital during treatment, and I cannot emphasize enough just how much a new toy or game means to a child stuck inside a hospital, sometimes for days or weeks at a time. With the pandemic and the continued limitations on visitors, children need these toys even more to distract them from what is going on and to brighten their day.
If you would like to help us bring smiles to the faces of children undergoing treatment at duPont Hospital, please consider donating to our Team Cameron Toy Drive! We are collecting new unwrapped toys for kids of all ages (babies –teens) from now until December 17,2021 and we have several convenient ways for you to donate.
